The Town of Big Stone Gap web site
was started in July 1998. The Big Stone Gap web site has two primary missions. The first mission is
to promote tourism by encouraging visitors to come to our area to share in
our heritage and hospitality. The second mission is to share pertinent and
timely information about our Town Government and Town activities with our
citizens.
To accomplish our missions, the Big Stone Gap web site is divided into
two major sections. The first section entitled "Our Town" contains demographic
information, details of local attractions, and photographs and maps of the
area. Also, contained in this section are directories of local hotels and
motels as well as Big Stone Gap restaurants. |
The second major section called "Town Government" is, as the name implies, a
summary of local governmental activities. Contained in this area are the
names, addresses, and photographs of our Councilmen and Town Officials,
names and addresses of committee members, the minutes of several previous
council meetings, the Annual Report for the previous year, tax rates, and
fee schedules. The "Home" page of our site is
devoted to current events in a section called "What’s Happening." Here, you
will find a brief listing of local events, meeting announcements, and Town
Government announcements. The "Home" page also includes a summary of new
additions to the site in a section appropriately called "What’s New." This
page also includes links to third party news and weather services. |
